Illini EcoConcept

The Illini EcoConcept is a student organization devoted into developing highly fuel efficient automobiles using a hydrogen fuel cell. Every year we are challenged to design, fabricate, and test robust vehicles. We seek to produce an outstanding vehicle that is not only competitive in the Shell Eco Marathon competition, held worldwide, but also innovative in the automotive industry as a whole.

Every academic year the club builds a whole new hydrogen powered car to participate in the Shell Eco Marathon Americas, a competition to determine the most efficient cars within fuel categories. The team also represents the University for domestic and international events. Past achievements include winning the Shell Eco Marathon under the Hydrogen Fuel cell category and participating in the Driver's World Championship in London, UK.
